There's nothing quite like the moment a 'Salmon Spider' opens its first flower. The blooms are enormous — large, funnel-shaped, and absolutely luminous — with petals that transition from a deep burnt orange-red at the edges to a glowing golden-yellow core. A dense cluster of yellow stamens crowns the center. It's the kind of flower that stops people in their tracks.

This well-rooted Echinopsis (Trichocereus) hybrid is approximately 3–4 inches tall and ready to grow. A collector's plant that rewards patience with spectacular annual blooms.

🌸 Bloom Highlights

  • Large funnel-shaped blooms reaching 4–6" across
  • Deep orange-red outer petals fading to luminous golden-yellow at the center
  • Dense golden stamen cluster at the center
  • Blooms late spring through summer (May–August)
  • Established plants produce 5–15+ flowers per season
  • Individual flowers last 1–2 days — each one a special event

🌱 Growth & Care

  • Climbing habit with offsets over time
  • Full sun to bright indirect light — 4–6 hours of direct morning sun ideal
  • Water thoroughly every 2–3 weeks in spring/summer; reduce significantly in fall/winter
  • Fast-draining cactus mix essential; add perlite or coarse sand if needed
  • Hardy to ~20–25°F (−6 to −4°C); USDA zones 8b–11
  • Cool, dry winter rest triggers prolific spring blooming
