Offer is for the WELL ROOTED Hildewintera ‘MAMACITA’ shown in the last picture. Plant is almost 2.5” tall.
No refunds if it dies.
Hildewintera hybrid 'MAMACITA' has a 4-1/2" to 5" inch diameter bloom with 3 rows of golden-yellow inner petals, narrow purplish-pink coloration on edge of first row, wider purplish-pink on second and on the third row which also has the same colors moves down the petals making a narrowing purplish-pink mid stripe, petal edges are very wavy and ruffled. Some petals have purple streaking. Back petals begin reddish first hour open changing to more purple in color, shorter petals. Throat is green, stamens are cream with occasional yellow-orange coloring towards last 1/3, stigma is light yellow to cream and anthers are cream to light pinkish-purple colored. Stem growth averages 2-1/4" to 3" inches average diameter, multiple ribs averaging 14-16 ribs, with short golden colored spines. This variety 'Mamacita' is columnar in growth form, we do not know the ultimate height yet of this variety, but it seems to bloom well at 12" to 16"+ (inches) tall or more in height. Hybridized by Sybille Riebler of Germany.
Notes : Classified as a Akersia/Hildewintera hybrid but as the growth is larger in diameter than the typical HWH and more upright we have also listed this hybrid in the hybrid Echinopsis listings under letter 'M'. Growth is thicker in diameter than most HWH and is similar in growth to some narrow, columnar type Echinopsis hybrids.
Hildewintera hybrid 'MAMACITA' likes a little break from the sun here in Southern California in our hottest summer months of July, August and Sept.
Coloring can vary depending on fertilizer/light/care given with more or less purple streaking, occasionally has some faint light orange coloring on petal edges. In bud this variety has reddish-burgundy colored buds. When 'Mamacita' first opens blooms are mostly reddish in color changing color in a short time as described above and pictured below.
This hybrid was developed in Germany but was given the Spanish hybrid name of "Mamacita" which is a sexual term, so the literal translation of "Mamacita" is "little mother" but the figurative and more accurate translation is "Hot Momma." The moniker is never really used to describe an actual mother, a genuine mamá or mamita. So in English translation this hybrids name would be Hildewintera hybrid "Hot Mama".
