Species Cleistocactus samaipatanus has small reddish to pinkish, lilac edged blooms in a tube form with a purple stamen. Bloom tube/ flower average 3" inches long with a 1-1/2" average diameter. A vigorous grower Cleistocactus samaipatanus has narrow cylindrical green to goldRen-brown stems that have numerous small golden spines. Best grown in a hanging basket as once the stems achieve some length that will become pendant. Care; Easy to grow Cleistocactus samaipatanus likes rich well draining soil. Water well in summer but only occasionally in winter. Can take some full sun by coastal areas but prefers bright partially filtered light most locations. Hardy to 25 degrees, but grows best at 70 degrees or more. Native to; Bolivia (South America).
